EA Explained In-Game Ads in Battlefield 2142
Recently many rumors were spreading about the in-game advertising in the Battlefield 2142. Many gamers said that EA “attach” in-game ads within the Battlefield 2142. They add a monitoring software in the game which will run while your computer is online, and it will records your information such as your IP address, web pages you’ve seen (stored in a cookie), and then it report this kind of information to ad servers.
Many gamers will hate this kind of stuff, because it violating their personal privacy while playing the game which many claim it as an adware / spyware. But through their website, EA claim that this in-game ads won’t violates the user’s privacy, the also claim that the software never access file not directly related to the game, and it doesn’t capture personal information such as cookies, login details, and surfing history.
They also add that Battlefield 2142 delivers the ads by the player’s region. They use IP address to determine the player’s region. EA hoping that their explanation will erase all the bad rumors about Battlefield 2142 in-game ads.
